Jawaharlal Nehru University present in Delhi was shocked with the recent MMS clip that has been circulated around the campus over the past two days.

After Delhi Public School MMS video where two school students were screened in a compromising position, this is yet another MMS scandal that came to the notice from the most recognized university.

Some of the students who are suspected to be involved in this shameful activity are already suspended from the university. And the police had already started investigation regarding this case even though any official complaint is not lodged from the university end.

In the holi city of Varanasi, Tuesday evening witnessed a bomb blast at Ashwamedha Ghat-Sheetla Ghaat near Ganga river. It is reported that a foreigner was injured in the blast including 15 people altogether.

US Swimmer Fran Crippen Died in Swimming World Cup

26 year old American swimmer- Fran Crippen passed away while he was taking part in the 10km Marathon Swimming World Cup on Saturday (October 23rd, 2010).

The cause of his death are to be known yet. He was found died after the co-swimmers noticed that he was not seen crossing the line for long time in an open water swimming competition.

Traffic Restrictions for CWG Opening Ceremony 2010

As Delhi Common Wealth Games are going to kick start from October 3rd, 2010, traffic restrictions are made in Delhi. Already many of the main busy roads are dedicated to the Common Wealth Games by having a special lane which are meant only for CWG purpose.

More and more traffic restrictions are imposed for CWG opening ceremony. The press release is given below

Restrictions on movement of General Traffic

i) From 6.00 A.M. to Midnight: Bhishma Pitamaha Marg - from Lodhi Road to Kotla Mubarakpur, both ways.

ii) From 2.00 P.M. : Lodhi Road between Safdarjang Madrasa to Lodhi Road flyover.

iii) Jawarharlal Nehru Stadium Marg - Mehar Chand Market to Lala Lajpat Rai Marg.

iv) MTNL Building road- Scope Complex Chowk to Kushak Nallah (iii) and (iv) already closed.

v) 2.30 P.M. to 6.30 P.M. :

a) NH-24 from Noida Mor flyover to Ring Road - Nizamuddin T-point.

b) Ring Road from Bhairon Road T-point to Ashram.

vi) 8.00 P.M. to 1.00 A.M.

a) From Ring Road from Ashram to Bhairon Road T-point.

b) NH-24 between Ring Road - Nizamuddin T-point to Noida Mor flyover.

Suggested Routes for General Public to avoid Congestion on Roads

People not connected to JLN Stadium Opening Ceremony can take following routes from North to South and East to West and vice versa.

(A) North to South and Vice Versa

Ring Road- Bhairon Road-Mathura Road- Neela Gumbad-Ashram- Ring Road- Towards Dhaula Kuan, Mathura Road towards Badarpur.

Boulevard Road- Rani Jhansi Road- Faiz Road- Upper Ridge Road to Dhaula Kuan.

(B) East to West and Vice Versa

East Delhi and Noida- DND Flyover- Ring Road - Ashram

East Delhi and Noida-Vikas Marg-ITO- DDU Marg- Connaught Place- RML Hospital- Upper Ridge Road.

Movement of Spectators to Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium

i) There is no parking for spectators in the vicinity of Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium for the Opening Ceremony of Commonwealth Games. The spectators coming for this Ceremony are advised to take public transport to reach the Venue of the Ceremony.

ii) People are requested to take Metro train to reach Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium. Spectators taking Gurgaon-Jahangirpuri Metro line are to get down at Jor Bagh Metro Station. People taking new Metro line between Central Secretariat & Badarpur should get down at JLN Stadium Metro Station or Jangpura Metro Station. Those coming at Jor Bagh Metro Station will be provided Metro Shuttle by DTC at a frequency of 1-2 minute after 2.00 p.m. Spectators getting down at JLN Metro Station and Jangpura Metro Station can walk to the stadium from these Metro Stations.

iii) Delhi Transport Corporation is going to provide focal point buses from 31 locations in Delhi & NCR to facilitate movement of spectators from different parts of Delhi and NCR. These focal point buses will take spectators to Sunehari Pulla parking on Lodhi Road from where they can walk to the Stadium.

iv) Those coming by their own personal vehicle for the Ceremony are advised to use car pool to the maximum so that there is less congestion on the roads. Those availing personal transport will take Park & Ride facility at Safdarjung Airport & Bhairon Road parking near Pragati Maidan. From these two Park & Ride locations, DTC will provide shuttle bus service to take the spectators to JLN stadium

v) Spectators coming from Safdarjang Airport Park & Ride shuttle can get down on 4th Avenue road for walking to the Stadium through Barapullah or get down at Mehar Chand Market to proceed to the Stadium. Spectators coming to these locations can take Foot Over Bridges at Barapullah or on Bhishma Pitamaha Marg to reach the Stadium.

vi) To avoid inconvenience to reach the Stadium, spectators are advised to plan their movement sufficiently in advance for their smooth movement to the spectator areas.

Air India Flight Crashes at Mangalore Bajpe Airport:167 Feard Killed

A very sad news to say that Air India flight from Dubai carrying 167 passengers caught fire after landing in Mangalore's Bajpe Airport.

The plane landed in Bajpe Airport at around 6:10AM. Reports say that the plane overshot the runway and has crashed.

Parents of Rayadurgam Srikanth who is pursuing his Masters in Hotel Management are much worried about their 23 year old son.

He went missing on October 1st after drawing some money that is seen on CCTV footage at 2.17 pm local time on October 1 withdrawing $250 (New Zealand dollars) from the National Bank ATM in Queen Street, about two hours after he left his home in Mt Albert to go to the university.

He is staying at his sister's home it seems and his wallet has been found near the harbour.

Divers searched Auckland's Waitemata Harbour near Westhaven Marina for the body of Srikanth Rayadurgam if he is dead.

The police are inverstigating and the details and where abouts of R. Srikant are still to be traced out.

Kandi Burruss Fiance AJ Jewell Killed In Night Club Body Tap Brawl

According to the Thai Indian news reports, AJ Jewell has passed away in a tragic incident.

Kandi’s former fiance, A.J. Jewell, got caught in a drunken brawl that had erupted in a night club in Atlanta called Body Tap, last night. According to reports of the authorities, it appears that Jewell suffered severe injuries to his head, which seemingly resulted in his death. He had been rushed to the Piedmont Hospital, immediately after the fight. It was there that he had died later on in the night. As of, on Friday night, the police had not placed anyone under arrest, on charges of the assault.

Not much information has been revealed as to why the fight had broken out at the strip club.

There has been much anxiety over the floods situation right now in Kurnool, Mahaboobnagar, Vijayawada areas of Andhra Pradesh State.

Floods in Andhra pradesh is the hot topic every where. Already nearly 30,000 people had been trapped in the flood water. This is the first ever time in the history of Andhra that has seen such type of floods. All the reasons for this floods situation lies on several factors. The first one is the nature itself for raining drastically within 2 days a record of upto 30 centimeters and more is recorded in many of theses areas.

And additional to that, the back waters from other sources are affecting more. And also flood water from the dams present in Karnataka is also one of the problems. The authorities in AP are not able to estimate the inflow of flood water into Srisailam and Nagarjuna Dam.

Red Alert has been announced right now in Kurnool as there is a heavy inflow of the flood water from upper regions. So tonight we can see the water level increase of upto 4 or 5 feet raise in the colonies.

In spite of additional cares that the authorities are taking, people are reporting that proper help and rescues are not reached to them. Many volunteers have arrived to these regions and started to distribute food, clothes and water packets.

Mantralayam which is famous for Sri Raghavendra Swamy is completely drowned and the bustation and other site seeing spots including the AP Tourism's Punnami Hotel is also one of the drowned places. Children in these places are crying for help and proper care.

The examination will be conducted in two parts:

A. Part I Written Examination: 300 marks
B. Part II Skill Test.

A. Part I: Written Examination:

The Examination will consist of two Papers I and II. Paper I will be Objective Type Multiple Choice whereas Paper II will be of Conventional Type.

B. Part II: SKILL TEST

Data Entry Speed of 8000 Key Depressions per hour (appropriate to the text) on computer. This Data Entry Speed/Skill Test would be of qualifying nature. Candidates allowed to take this test will have to qualify the test at the prescribed speed on Computer, to be provided by the Commission or agency authorized by the Commission to conduct such skill test at the Centre/venue so notified.

NOTE I:

The Skill Test will be conducted by an agency duly authorized by the Commission for the purpose, under the supervision and control of Commission.

NOTE II:

Only those candidates who secure in the written examination the minimum qualifying marks as may be fixed by the Commission at its discretion, will only be eligible to appear in the SKILL TEST. The SKILL TEST will be held at the Commission’s Regional Offices or other Centres as may be decided by the Commission.

Paper I (Objective Type)

Part A: English Language:

Questions in this component will be designed to test the candidate’s understanding and knowledge of English Language and will be based on error recognition, fill in the blanks (using verbs, preposition, articles etc), vocabulary, spellings, Grammar, sentence-structure, Synonyms, Antonyms, sentence completion, phrases and idiomatic use of words, etc. There will be a question on passages and comprehension of passages also. The standard of the questions will be only of 10+2 level.

Part B: General Awareness:

Questions in this component will be aimed at testing the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observations and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of any educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining to History, Geography, Economic, General policy, Scientific Research etc. These Questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.

Paper II (Conventional): Arithmetic:

This part will include questions on problems relating to number systems, Computation of whole numbers, decimals and fractions, relationships between numbers, fundamental arithmetical operations, percentages, ratio and proportions, averages, interest, profit & loss, discount, use of tables and graphs, mensuration, time & distance, ratio and time etc.

Students having confirmed admission in the first year of full time engineering degree course, MBBS, MBA and also 11th standard as well as those in the 1st year of 2 year ITI course are eligible to apply. In case of graduates, the average percentage of marks of all the academic years shall be treated as marks obtained by the candidate. Similarly in case of 10th/12th, if percentage of marks obtained is not mentioned by Board/University, percentage of marks obtained shall be calculated on total aggregate marks.

Minimum eligibility percentage of marks for various categories will be as indicated above. Gross Joint income of the family of the candidate from all sources (during financial year 2008-2009) should not exceed Rs. 1,00,000/- (Rupees One Lakh only). Income certificate should be issued by Competent Revenue Authorities only. The marks obtained in the qualifying examination making the students eligible to seek admission in the respective first year of these courses will be considered for selection.

Normalization of marks of applicant shall be done for Engg., MBBS & MBA streams to bring parity of marking system within different Boards/ Universities/Institutions. Criterion for selection will be merit and family’s income. Wards of the employees of IOCL, its Joint Venture and Subsidiary companies and ACE Consultants are not eligible to apply.

AGE LIMIT:
Minimum 15 years and maximum 30 years as on 1.9.2009. Persons born between 1.9.79 and 1.9.94 (both days inclusive) are eligible to apply.

Birendra Krishna Bhadra was a spiritual poet. He recited Mahishashura Mardini, a collection of shlokas and songs broadcast by All India Radio Calcutta (now Kolkata) in the dawn of Mahalaya. He was an alumnus of Scottish Church College in Kolkata.

In the 1930s All India Radio used to broadcast a program called Mahishashura Mardini which describes the epic battle of goddess Durga with the demon king Mahishashura. The script of this program was written by Bani Kumar and music directed by Pankaj Kumar Mallik. Birendra Krishna Bhadra recited. In 1970s, the programme was recorded. In 2007 Durga Puja opens with the same recital by Birendra Krishna Bhadra.

About Mahalya:

Durga Puja is the biggest festival in Bengal. This is also known as Dussehra and Navaratri in other parts of India. Durga is the Goddess of divine power against all evils. The story goes that Mahisasur, the Buffalo Demon, through years of praying, received blessing from Lord Brahma, that no power can kill him which means he is invincible. But once gaining this power he started ravaging the whole world and killing people. And finally he wanted to uproot the Gods too. The Gods, in dismay, combined their powers to create a beautiful maiden, and each placed his or her most potent weapon in one of her ten hands riding a lion. Her return in each year in the Bengali month of Aswin (September-October) commemorates Rama’s invocation of the goddess Durga before he went into battle with Ravana. The traditional image of the Bengali Durga follows the iconographic injunctions of the Shastras. It is similar to the Durga of Aihole and of Mahabalipuram (seventh century). The tableau of Durga with her four children - Kartik, Ganesh, Saraswati and Lakshmi, representing respectively the Protector, the Initiator of the puja, Knowledge and the Provider - signifies the complete manifestation of the goddess.

Another legend has it that Lord Rama went to rescue his abducted wife Sita from the grip of Ravana, the king of the demons in Lanka. Before starting for his battle with Ravana, Rama wanted the blessings of Devi Durga. Pleased with Rama’s devotion, Durga appeared before him and blessed him. The battle started on the saptami and Ravana was finally killed on the sandhikshan i.e. the crossover period between ashtami and navami and was cremated on dashami. Since the period of this worship was different from the conventional festival time of spring or basant, this puja is also known as akal-bodhan or worship (bodhan) in an unconventional time (a-kaal).

Festival preparations begin a month or two in advance. Employees of different Govt. and private organizations get extra money as Puja bonus to enjoy the festival. If not, then processions and posters press the demand for Puja bonus, as the bread-winner has to meet many demands for new clothes and furbishing for the home. Businesses have special advertisement campaigns before Puja and stock themselves with special products. Pre-Puja bargain sales and exhibitions introduce the sartorial style for the coming year. Bengali newspapers and magazines publish special issues “Sharad Sankhya” - the platform for many budding author, besides the works by well-known writers. Music companies have a number of new discs and cassettes published in every Puja and the music lovers await eagerly for the new releases.

The festival starts with Mahalaya, the first phase of the waxing moon in Aswin. Thousands offer prayers to their ancestors at the city’s river banks (ghats), a ritual called Tarpan. A special pre-dawn program of readings from the Chandi and Aagamani songs welcoming the goddess are relayed by All-India Radio. This traditional program, conceived by Birendrakrishna Bhadra, has become an institution: a chorus of protests led to its restoration after a change was attempted one year.

The festive mood builds up as Dhakis (drummers) from the countryside starts gathering near the city. They beat feathered drums to attract the attention of local Puja organizers. The first recorded Durga Puja seems to have taken place in Nadia district in or around 1606. In those days it was more of a family festival for the rich or landlords. The oldest Puja in Calcutta, as some believes, was used to be the family Puja of Sabarna Chaudhury of Barisha which dates back to 1610. The first publicly organized puja happened in Guptipara of Hoogli district when twelve men were stopped from taking part in a household puja. They formed a twelve man committee and held a puja. Since then these kind of puja arrangement is known as barowari ( baro - twelve, yar- friend). Later the term ‘barowari‘ was replaced by ‘sarbojonin‘ ( for all men and women). The first community puja in Calcutta was held at Balaram Bose Ghat Road in 1910.

The construction of images start months back. Kumartuli, a place in north Calcutta, is famous as a place for expert artisans who uses clay modeling to build the images of Durga, Mahisasur, Kartick, Ganesh, Saraswati and Lakshmi. This is a wonderful form of art and part of a deep rooted culture. In the recent years, eminent personalities from the painting and sculpture world also did lots of creative work on Durga images. Another group of people starts building a pandal ( a covered huge stage ) with paper, wood, bamboos, clothes and other materials. They come up with beautiful structures , most of the times they are so beautiful and real that, it tough to believe that these are made for only couple of days or a week. Some constructions are built as replica of world famous structures.

The inauguration starts on Mahashasthi. The main puja is for three days - Mahasaptami, Mahaastami, Mahanavami. The puja rituals are long and very detailed and complicated. Three days of Mantras and Shlokas and Arati and offerings - needs an expert priest to do this kind of Puja. Because of these facts, the number of Pujas held in the family has reduced and Durga Puja has mostly emerged as a community festival. The city of Calcutta takes a different look during these three days, specially at night. Millions of people come to the city and line up before the pandals. The streets are lighted and the electricians display all different kind of light shows. The restaurants are packed and numerous temporary food stalls are opened though out the city. Special trains, buses are available; underground metro rail runs beyond regular schedule. People from suburban areas come into the city and roam around through out the nights.

Schools, colleges, offices remain closed during these four days. Some people use the holidays to go out for sight seeing and travel. Trains to tourists spots get reserved months before puja. Bengalis in other cities in India visit their relatives in West Bengal.

After the three days of Puja, in Dashami , in the last day, a tearful farewell is offered to the Goddess. Most of the community pujas postpone the farewell as long as possible and arrange a grand send-off. The images are carried in processions around the locality and finally is immersed in a nearby river or lake. Vijaya Dashami is an event celebrated all over the country.
Bengalis all over the world tries to celebrate this great event of their culture. Images made out of ’shola’ (light material) are flown to countries abroad and the NRI Bengalis and Indians arrange puja in foreign lands. This is an unfortunate incident in the history of Serena Williams' Tennis Life. She lost the match and also been fined a total of $10,000.Poor Serena !!

Kim Clijsters has beaten Serena Williams to book a place in the US Open final after the defending champion was issued with a code violation on match point.

Serena was docked a point for yelling at an official who called a foot fault when trailing 5-6, 15-30 in the second set.

The unseeded Clijsters reached the final after winning 6-4 7-5.

Williams allegedly made a threat against the line judge, who then reported it to the chair umpire. That led to the chair umpire awarding a point to Clijsters, ending the match.

2005 champion Clijsters will now take on Caroline Wozniacki from Denmark in the final, after the No.9 seed Belgian Yanina Wickmayer 6-3 6-3.

Phúc joined a group of civilians and South Vietnamese soldiers who were fleeing from the Cao Dai Temple to the safety of South Vietnamese held positions. A South Vietnamese Air Force pilot mistook the group for enemy soldiers and diverted to attack. The bombing killed two of Phúc's cousins and two other villagers. Associated Press photographer Nick Út earned a Pulitzer Prize for his photograph of the aftermath. It also was chosen the World Press Photo of the Year for 1972. The image of Phúc running naked amidst the chaos became one of the most haunting images of the Vietnam War. In an interview many years later, she recalled she was yelling "Nong qua, nong qua" ("too hot, too hot") in the picture.

BSNL Junior Telecome Officer-JTO examination was held in June 21st, 2009.

When will the results be announced? Till now there is no word from the officials and as time goes on in this recession hit period, it will be a big trouble for the unemployed candidates.

Those people who wrote the exam have to take some sort of decisions before the results are declared.Try for other jobs for safe side.

Last year the results were published in October and this year too they may do in the same way I think so.

It will a mere luck if the results are declared soon before November and accelerating the recruitment process is also most welcomed.

Hope the results can be declared in September or October...

Breaking news is that the whereabouts of the chopper in which the CM YSR had travelled is found in south east of Kurnool at a distance of 40 nautical miles.

This distance is approximately between 70 to 90 KM from Kurnool Town.

NTV is the first channel to make a news on this and all the other national and local channels have been displaying the same live news.

The search team found this under the guidence of commander Bahrathi.

It is not sure whether the helicopter is safe or it is crashed.

Hope that the CM is not dead and we will be knowing the details within 20 minutes

13 Hours passed on and till now there is no word about the CM Rajasekhar Reddy.

Many hopes are there as per the Andhra Pradesh Congress Party Leaders had expressed.

Rumors are circulating that some people heard of some sort of crash sound in the water and there was some oil floating there.All these news have not been confirmed till now.

This is a big blow to both the state government and for the central government for the delay in tracing the whereabout of the 'King of Andhra Politics'.[Rajasekharudu]

As per the news sources, the National Congress Leaders have been keen to what each and every update in the enquiry. Sonia Gandhi and other congress leaders are planning to visit Hyderabad.

Just now Y.S.Jagan, son of Rajasekhar Reddy reached Atmakur.Also YSR's wife,daughter and other family members have reached to Hyderabad from Bangalore in flight at about 08:00PM today.

The naxal hit Nallamala forests are dense and thick in nature and it is difficult for unknown people to find a way to get out of that place.

Hopes are there that the CM and other people of the chopper are alive and they might have landed in some valley.

Just in were ISRO's 45 images and after developing those images no information was found.

Central government had requested satellite imagery help from America.

Have to wait what happens by tomorrow morning.But the Chief Secreatary Mr.Ramakanth Reddy says that it is for sure that the search team with 5,000 CRPF men and other local people will find the details of the CM by this night.
