Bharti Airtel Ltd. said its net profit for the quarter ending June 30 rose to 21.67 billion rupees from 14.24 billion rupees last year.

India's second-largest telecom player said first quarter net sales rose to 85.67 billion rupees from 59.57 billion rupees the year ago.

Facing a stiff competition from CDMA vendors Tata and Reliance, India's biggest mobile operator Airtel has launched a new plan called Airtel Jackpot 249 in Delhi & NCR region.

At 249 Rs local call rates at 30 paise and 500 local minutes wihout the restriction of same networks, is pretty cool. Should go well with postpaid customers.
