Traffic Restrictions for CWG Opening Ceremony 2010

As Delhi Common Wealth Games are going to kick start from October 3rd, 2010, traffic restrictions are made in Delhi. Already many of the main busy roads are dedicated to the Common Wealth Games by having a special lane which are meant only for CWG purpose.

More and more traffic restrictions are imposed for CWG opening ceremony. The press release is given below

Restrictions on movement of General Traffic

 i)  From 6.00 A.M. to Midnight:  Bhishma Pitamaha Marg - from Lodhi Road to Kotla Mubarakpur, both ways.

 ii) From 2.00 P.M. : Lodhi Road between Safdarjang Madrasa to Lodhi Road flyover.

 iii) Jawarharlal Nehru Stadium Marg -  Mehar Chand Market to Lala Lajpat Rai Marg.

 iv) MTNL Building road- Scope Complex Chowk to Kushak Nallah (iii) and (iv) already closed.

 

v) 2.30 P.M. to 6.30 P.M. :

a) NH-24 from Noida Mor flyover to Ring Road - Nizamuddin T-point.

b) Ring Road from Bhairon Road T-point to Ashram.

 vi) 8.00 P.M. to 1.00 A.M.

a) From Ring Road from Ashram to Bhairon Road T-point. 

b) NH-24 between Ring Road - Nizamuddin T-point to Noida Mor flyover.

 

 Suggested Routes for General Public to avoid Congestion on Roads

 People not connected to JLN Stadium Opening Ceremony can take following routes from North to South and East to West and vice versa.

 (A) North to South and Vice Versa

Ring Road- Bhairon Road-Mathura Road- Neela Gumbad-Ashram- Ring Road- Towards Dhaula Kuan, Mathura Road towards Badarpur.

 Boulevard Road- Rani Jhansi Road- Faiz Road- Upper Ridge Road to Dhaula Kuan.

 (B) East to West and Vice Versa

 East Delhi and Noida- DND Flyover- Ring Road - Ashram

 East Delhi and Noida-Vikas Marg-ITO- DDU Marg- Connaught Place- RML Hospital- Upper Ridge Road.  

 Movement of Spectators to Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium

  i) There is no parking for spectators in the vicinity of Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium for the Opening Ceremony of Commonwealth Games.  The spectators coming for this Ceremony are advised to take public transport to reach the Venue of the Ceremony.

 ii) People are requested to take Metro train to reach Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium.  Spectators taking Gurgaon-Jahangirpuri Metro line are to get down at Jor Bagh Metro Station.  People taking new Metro line between Central Secretariat & Badarpur should get down at JLN Stadium Metro Station or Jangpura Metro Station.  Those coming at Jor Bagh Metro Station will be provided Metro Shuttle by DTC at a frequency of 1-2 minute after 2.00 p.m. Spectators getting down at JLN Metro Station and Jangpura Metro Station can walk to the stadium from these Metro Stations.

 iii) Delhi Transport Corporation is going to provide focal point buses from 31 locations in Delhi & NCR to facilitate movement of spectators from different parts of Delhi and NCR.  These focal point buses will take spectators to Sunehari Pulla parking on Lodhi Road from where they can walk to the Stadium.

 iv) Those coming by their own personal vehicle for the Ceremony are advised to use car pool to the maximum so that there is less congestion on the roads.  Those availing personal transport will take Park & Ride facility at Safdarjung Airport & Bhairon Road parking near Pragati Maidan.  From these two Park & Ride locations,  DTC will provide shuttle bus service to take the spectators to JLN stadium

 v) Spectators coming from Safdarjang Airport Park & Ride shuttle can get down on 4th Avenue road for walking to the Stadium through Barapullah or get down at Mehar Chand Market to proceed to the Stadium. Spectators coming to these locations can take Foot Over Bridges at Barapullah or on Bhishma Pitamaha Marg to reach the Stadium.

 vi) To avoid inconvenience to reach the Stadium, spectators are advised to plan their movement sufficiently in advance for their smooth movement to the spectator areas.
