The Delhi Home Guards has been raised under the Bombay Home Guards Act, 1947 as extended to GNCTD of Delhi (UT) in 1959. The Delhi Home Guards Rules were framed in 1959.
Civil Defence Corps has been formed under the Civil Defence Act (1968 ) in Delhi. The Civil Defence Organization is a second line of Defence and a social/welfare service agency during war-time and provides soccur to affected persons/areas in calamities and disasters and during major accidents, communal upheaval, etc. in peacetime.
